An elderly pensioner has reportedly been jailed for killing a 70-year-old cyclist in broad daylight.
According to local media outlets, the pensioner had such poor eyesight that he found it hard to read a number plate that was just ten feet ahead of him. Yet he chose to be playing with other people’s lives, including his and venturing out on the roads for a drive.
The heartbreaking news was recently confirmed by authorities who called the suspect reckless and immediately took him into their custody.
The suspect was identified as 82-year-old Peter Gardner who rammed his vehicle straight into the cyclist during the daytime. Meanwhile, the victim was named Mr. Tassell and he died in a hospital after battling for his life for five days.
It was also recently confirmed by authorities how the suspect was warned by his eye doctor to not risk his own life and others by driving on the roads due to his poor vision. Yet he chose to ignore all of the instructions given to him.
The exact location of the crash was identified to be Andover in Hampshire. And a date for the trial had been set.
The judge revealed that taking the life of another due to your own foolish behavior is just plain stupidity and selfishness.
The victim was reportedly described as a loving grandad who was out and about cycling at 10 in the morning. He loved to exercise and maintain a healthy lifestyle. But little did he know that it would one day turn out to be the cause of his death in the end.
