NFL star Josh Sills has been indicted on kidnapping and r*pe charges just days before the Super Bowl is set to kick off.
The Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive lineman has been accused of engaging in an “activity that was not consensual and held a victim against her will.”
As per count one, the 25-year-old 6’ 6” footballer “purposely compelled her [his victim] to submit to force or threat of force.”
Count two further notes that the offensive lineman “did, by force, threat, or deception, remove M.M [the victim] from the place where she was found or restrain the liberty of her for the purpose of facilitating the commission of a felony.”
While the incident allegedly took place in December 2019, it remains unclear why it took more than three years to conclude the investigation and bring charges against the NFL player.
“In December 2019, the indictment says, Sills engaged in s*xual activity that was not consensual and held a victim against her will,” the Attorney General’s statement reads.
“The crime was immediately reported, and the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office conducted a detailed investigation.
“The case was presented to the grand jury and is being prosecuted by the Special Prosecutions Section of the Attorney General’s Office.”
The incident comes just ten days before the Super Bowl, whereas Sills is expected to appear in court on February 16.
Following the shocking news, the Philadelphia Eagles merely acknowledged that they are aware of the charges in a brief statement.
“We have been in communication with the league office and are in the process of gathering more information. We have no further comment at this time,” the football team said.
