The drunk driver who killed a young bride on her wedding night was three times over the drink and drive limit at the time of the crash.
25-year-old Jamie Komoroski was charged with one count of reckless homicide and three counts of felony DUI resulting in great bodily harm after killing Samantha Hutchinson, 34, and severely injuring her husband, Aric Hutchinson, when she plowed into their golf cart just hours after the pair exchanged their vows and tied the knot.
It was now revealed that the suspect was three times over the blood alcohol content limit at the time of the incident. She was also driving at 65 mph in a 25 mph zone.
After causing the crash that abruptly ended the newlyweds’ marriage and caused a fatality, the woman was filmed laughing at the hospital and asking the officers when she would be getting her car back.
Aric Hutchinson, Samantha’s grieving husband, has since woken up from a coma only to be left with the daunting task of planning his wife’s funeral.
According to the latest reports, Aric was already discharged from the hospital and is recovering from his injuries at home.
“She could light up a room with her presence and had an ease about her. They shared many hopes and dreams for their future including children and building a house,” Aric’s mom said as she said the entire family is “missing Sam more than anything.”
It was also revealed that Aric’s brother-in-law Ben Garrett, who was also inside the golf cart at the time of the crash, remains in hospital after suffering extreme road rash and open wounds.
“He will need another skin graft back home in Utah at some point. He needs to be able to put weight on his legs, and his wounds to start healing before he can return home,” the family revealed.
As of this writing, Komoroski remains in custody where she is held without bond. She is set to appear in court in June.
