The man accused of killing an innocent 7-year-old girl named Athena Strand by strangling her to death and then dumping her remains near a river could now face the death penalty.
Sources from local media outlets claim the FedEx driver had come over to drop off deliver packages to the family’s home when he spotted the little girl playing in the driveway. On that note, he quietly captured her and rushed his vehicle away without anyone finding out.
The little child was excited about her birthday and had been playing in the driveway. The package that was to be delivered to her home was her birthday gift and that’s why she got even more excited to see the truck of FedEx. But little did this young girl know about the horror that was in store.
She was abducted, abused, strangled, and then murdered as per the official reports. Her remains were dumped by the suspect in a nearby river.
The suspect was identified as 31-year-old Tanner Horner. He now faces either the death penalty or a life-in-prison indictment.
But the victim’s mother wants a life in prison sentencing because she feels he deserves just that.
The mother says that the man who tortured and killed her daughter does not deserve to live and hopes that the justice system rules for his immediate death sentence.
“Every breath that this man takes is one that my daughter does not. She did not deserve this. No child deserves this”- the grief-stricken mother added.
Details in the terrifying case have gone on to speak about how the driver accidentally hit little Athena Strand with his truck. He panicked, grabbed her, and put her inside his vehicle. And that’s when he did the unthinkable to a young and innocent child.
