A sheriff’s deputy from Tennessee was recently found dead at her burning home over the weekend.
According to local media reports, the woman was covered in gunshot wounds with one male suspect being linked to the horrifying tragedy that took place last weekend.
The suspect accused of the attack has been arrested by the police on Monday, right after he encountered a stand-off with officials.
The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Deputy Savanna Puckett who failed to show up to her workplace on Sunday during the evening hours.
When one of her own colleagues went out to pay her a visit and see if everything was okay, he found her house burning up in flames, as revealed by a recent report released by the Robertson County Sheriff’s Department.
Paramedics and firefighters were called to the scene of the crime who reportedly located the young woman’s body from inside the home. She had been pronounced dead at the scene with clear signs showing gunshot wounds on her body.
After less than 24 hours, the police in Smyrna stated that they had made an arrest relating to the man potentially linked with the tragic crime.
At the moment, officials are yet to disclose any relevant details regarding the criminal case and the suspect’s identity. This includes no relevant information on his age, name, or whether or not the suspect had any sort of relationship with the victim.
In the same way, the officials are also not disclosing what they think the potential motive of the murder could be.
The young officer who died had reportedly worked with the sheriff’s department for nearly four years, as stated by the officials.
A recent public statement was released from the Tennessee Sheriff’s Department which stated the following: “No words can express the amount of grief and sadness that the victim’s family and her sheriff’s office family are facing right now.”
