One of the deadliest attacks in the history of hot balloons has left 16 people dead.
According to local media outlets, the tragedy ensued when the pilot steered the victims to their deathbed after he struck a series of overhead cables.
Meanwhile, investigations into the harrowing tragedy went on to make more shocking confessions that were linked to the pilot suffering from serious mental issues that showed that he wasn’t fit for flying.
Authorities revealed how the pilot was suffering from clinical depression and that is what led to the tragic incident in the end.
While the incident took place nearly six years back, today marks the tragic anniversary of the event where loved ones continue to mourn their family members who they believe were killed in the senseless tragedy.
Investigations also went about proving how there was a clear pattern of poor decision-making on that day by the pilot himself.
The exact location for the tragedy was outlined to be Lockhart in Texas, which was reportedly brought on by a collision with power cables.
The accident was also seen as a huge turning point for so many other people as it resulted in a change of policies and stricter checks on pilots by calls made by the FBI.
There was also believed to be an entire FBI-based evidence recovery operation taking place in the area where the site of the crash occurred.
After striking the powerline, the hot air balloon was seen crashing into a field and that is what caused the tragedy of all passengers and the pilot on board.
