Johnny Depp’s viral defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard continues with the actress taking the stand at the Fairfax court.
Heard, who previously accused the actor of physically, sexually, and emotionally abusing her, now took the stand and recalled the times her ex-beau had allegedly beaten her, slapped her, penetrated her with a bottle, and threatened to cut her face.
The Aquaman star also recalled the couple’s engagement party and claimed Johnny was absent from it most of the time because he was busy doing drugs with her ‘addict’ father.
“We walk in together, we took some pictures and said a few hellos and then Johnny disappeared upstairs. He disappeared upstairs almost the entire party,” Heard told the court.
“He came down at the end when we were leaving and he came down once because he was, at the time, sharing drugs with my dad.”
As Amber insisted, her ex-husband was using the same drugs as her father on the day of their engagement party.
She also claimed the actor snapped at her and told her to shut up when she went upstairs and asked him to come down with her.
“My dad actually left with Johnny’s security to get more drugs. They left… they came back with drugs and everything was ok, in terms of the withdrawal symptoms,” Heard recalled.
“Shortly after that I tried to get Johnny to come downstairs and he just snapped at me, just verbally told me to ‘shut the f*** up.’”
The court was recently also shown a series of photos that Amber allegedly took after her ex-partner passed out following drug and alcohol binges.
As she claims, she began taking pictures of Depp after growing increasingly “sensitive” about her situation some two years into their relationship.
“I only could tell what he was using because I would have to look for clues. [He’d] pass out, and get sick and lose control of himself. And then people would pick him up and clean him up and fix it,” Heard testified on Thursday.
“And he wouldn’t either remember, or he would deny it, or he would accuse me of saying that this had happened when it didn’t. And there was no one to back me up. [It was] just him, his employees, and everyone who had been taking care of him versus my word, and so I started to take pictures [to] say: ‘Look, this is happening.’”
She added: “I started to pick up on the clues, so I could figure out what I was dealing with. I understood enough about addiction to know you have to hit rock bottom, have some consequence to get better.
“At the time I was already sensitive, I’d been in the relationship for over a year. I’d already noticed there was this pattern of behavior changes that would make my life significantly more complicated or peaceful or difficult or wonderful dependent on what he was using.
“I could tell what he was using because I’d have to look for clues. He’d pass out, get sick, lose control of himself. People would pick him up and clean it and fix it.”
