The former talent agent of Johnny Depp has testified that the Pirates of the Caribbean star’s power dimmed because of his anger issues and bad behavior on set.
Tracey Jacobs, who represented the actor for three decades until she was fired in 2016, said that Depp was ‘extraordinarily talented’ and became the ‘biggest star in the world’ while she was representing him.
When asked why she was fired, she said: “I really don’t know. He terminated essentially everyone in his life so I was along for the ride, I guess.”
When the court read part of a deposition by Depp suggesting that Jacobs was a ‘co-conspirator’ with another person he sued and that she was only after the money, the talent agent said it was ‘all untrue.’
Asked if the actor was a ‘difficult’ client, Jacobs replied: “He wasn’t initially and it became far more complicated in the last 10 years of my representing him.”
“Showing up late to set, consistently, on virtually every movie. I would get yelled at. I never said to him you’re a difficult client, but I was very honest with him and said you’ve got to stop doing this, this is hurting you. And it did,” she added.
Jacobs claimed that Depp’s change in behavior is caused by increased consumption of alcohol and substances.
When asked by Heard’s lawyer Elaine Bredehoft if the actor “romanticized drug culture,” Jacobs said yes.
“Mr. Depp had fundamental issues with anger?” Bredehoft asked, to which Jacobs replied yes.
Bredehoft asked: “Did that worsen over the time of your representation or relatively the same?”
Jacobs said: “Yes, it worsened over time.”
The talent agent also agreed that the actor was lacking patience when his needs were not met.
When asked about Depp’s current reputation, Jacobs said that ‘these lawsuits don’t help.’
