The cost of human life lost during the worst flood in Kentucky’s history is being calculated.
According to the latest facts and figures released by authorities recently, at least 25 people have died, including six children too.
Rescue efforts are still taking place as life has come to an absolute standstill in the state, leaving houses and businesses ruined and families displaced.
Sources claim that the death toll is also expected to rise further as citizens report a number of missing relatives that are yet to be accounted for.
Meanwhile, the state’s governor Andy Beshear was seen mentioning during a recent press conference how dozens are still missing and he fears the worse as conditions continue to worsen.
Huge thunderstorms were seen covering the area that caused hundreds of mudslides and damage worth of years in the area.
“This is the state’s most devastating flood in history. It will time some time for normalcy to return as weather conditions continue to make rescue efforts worse”- the governor added.
Just yesterday, horrifying reports spoke about one family losing all four young siblings that had been swept away from their own parents’ arms while trying to cling on to a tree. But the force of the currents was just too strong and in the end, they had all been washed away by the current, leaving the parents grieving forever.
There are several more rain forecasts to take place in the upcoming few days and that’s why authorities are now on alert, making sure evacuations take place in those areas that are most likely to be heavily affected by the storms.
Both the police and national guard were seen participating in the recent rescue events, where helicopters and boats were used as vehicles for transport to rescue dozens stuck in the floodwaters.
