Olympian Shavez Hart has been shot dead outside a famous nightclub in the Bahamas recently.
According to local media outlets, the star olympian was witnessed trying to control a fight that had suddenly erupted and that’s when one armed suspect shot him in the chest.
The news was recently confirmed by TMZ who claim the incident took place over the weekend, leaving the 29-year-old sprinter’s family heartbroken and numb with grief.
It was about 2 am on Saturday when the shooting occurred at the nightclub’s parking lot. The exact location was identified by authorities to be Mouth Hope in North Abaco.
The former sprinter was a valuable addition to Texas A&M University. And the news spread like wildfire, leaving many shocked and devastated over the senseless killing.
Authorities claim he was rushed to the Marsh Harbor Clinic and that is where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
As of now, the investigation is taking place but one arrest has been made in relation to the killing, as revealed by TMZ Sports. The sudden death of the sportsman saw a statement be released after his passing.
“The entire Olympic family is so sad to hear and learn about the sudden death of Shavez Hart. He was a proud native of Abaco.”
The statement also described the athlete as one of the most hardworking and humble individuals that you could ever come across. “He was just so determined to offer the very best of himself, only for the sake of his nation”- the statement went on to add.
Meanwhile, another statement was issued by the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.
It read, “On behalf of my family and the people of this country, I extend my heartfelt condolences to Shavez’s family.” He also added how blessed the entire nation was to have a sprinter like him who could carry their flag around the globe.
