A 50-year-old daycare owner who shot her ex-cop husband in a hotel reportedly drove there to confront him after another parent accused him of assault*ng their children.
This comes weeks after their daycare center in Maryland was shut down by Child Protective Services when the first claim was made.
Shanteari Weems has been taken into custody on charges of weapons offenses and domestic v*olence.
The daycare owner shot her husband, ex-cop James Weems Jr., in his hotel room at the Mandarin Oriental, a $400-a-night hotel where he was staying to attend a conference.
This was the second allegation against the retired police officer, who worked as the bus driver.
When Shanteari heard about the new allegation against her husband, she drove to Washington to confront him.
Her attorney claims that she fired a weapon at him in self-defense after he became violent. It is still not clear whose weapon was used.
Shanteari’s family and attorney are fighting for her to be freed.
“She is in h*ll. This is a woman who was completely and utterly traumatized by having these mothers come to her,” attorney Tony Garcia told Daily Mail.
“She did not want him to touch another child… not on her watch – that’s for damn sure.
She has been doing this for 20 years. She built this business from scratch.
Her whole life’s work is that mothers trust her and allow her to care for their kids while they go to work. To have this happen… and it is not even an employee.“It’s her husband.”
Kids Kastle Child Development Center was closed right away after the first allegation against James Weems, 57, was made earlier this month.
It is believed that there are three separate allegations against the ex-cop.
