Football star David Beckham has once again sparked a divisive debate after sharing a picture of himself kissing his daughter on the lips.
The 48-year-old English president of Inter Miami and former footballer has long been known to be very affectionate towards his children which he often shows by kissing them on the lips.
Beckham previously sparked fury after sharing a snap of himself and his young daughter sharing a sweet moment involving a peck on the lips.
Now, the athlete once again managed to upset his haters as he posted a clip in which his daughter Harper, 12, is seen planting a kiss on her father’s lips while doing his makeup ahead of Paris Fashion Week.
The video sparked backlash on social media where some viewers branded the father as “disgusting” and “creepy.” Others, however, rushed to his aid and suggested he was just “being sweet” with his daughter and that there was nothing wrong with showing affection through kisses.
“I kiss all my kids on the lips. Brooklyn maybe not,” Beckham previously said in 2017 after he came under fire for his controversial act for the first time.
“Brooklyn [was then] 18, so he might find that a little strange, but I’m very affectionate with the kids. It’s how I was brought up – and Victoria – and it’s how we are with our children.”
Gushing over his love for his family, the footballer went on to say he will continue being affectionate towards his children.
“We want to show our kids love and we protect them, look after them and support them. Having children is the most special thing in the world,” he added at the time.
In the following years, including in October 2020 and later in 2022, the proud dad once again caused fury by sharing similar snaps showing him kissing his daughter.
“It’s creepy because you’re a man why do you keep on doing this?” one critic wrote.
“There’s nothing wrong with love and affection but you’re pushing it here, why not just give her a kiss on the cheek instead?” another insisted.
