Heartbroken Dad Cradled 17-Year-Old Daughter In His Arms As She Tragically DIED While On Her Way To Prom


The heartbroken father of a 17-year-old girl who got involved in a car crash while on her way to prom cradled her in his arms as she tragically died.

17-year-old Kiea McCann and her friend Dlava Mohamed, 16, died after their vehicle hit a tree in County Monaghan.

The Large College students were on their way to prom when their car slid off the road near the Irish border.

McCann’s father, Frankie, arrived at the scene shortly after the fatal crash and cradled his daughter before paramedics arrived.

According to reports, a 60-year-old driver and an 18-year-old woman – believed to be Dlava’s sister – were also in the car and were left severely injured.

An 18-year-old man who was also in the car received treatment for minor injuries.

Principal Sharon Magennis paid tribute to the ‘two beautiful girls,’ saying that their deaths are a massive loss to their community.

Speaking to Irish broadcaster RTE, the principal said: “Words cannot describe how our school and the community of Clones is feeling at this time.”

Magennis also shared that Dlava arrived in Ireland in 2018 under the Syrian resettlement program. She the attended Largy College and became ‘best friends’ with Kiea.

“Dlava was always smiling. She was a gorgeous soul – loyal and bubbly and she was always very happy in or around the school,” the principal said.

“She radiated goodness and she was just full of energy.”

She remembered Kiea as a generous and lovely student. “She had a great love of children and she hoped to go on to study childcare at the third level and now that is a dream that will just not be realized.”
