The refugee crisis in Ukraine is getting worse with each passing day as reports confirmed how a 19-year-old girl was abused by a 49-year-old man in Poland.
According to local media reports, the man had promised to help the young woman who left her war-torn nation in hopes of a better chance at survival.
However, she soon realized that it was far fetched reality after arriving in her neighboring country of Poland where she was r*ped by a male.
The current count of refugees entering Poland from Ukraine now stands at nearly 1.6 million and the UN says that the figures are expected to increase further as more and more are believed to travel to the EU nation.
Meanwhile, the 49-year-old suspect has now been arrested in Poland and slapped with charges of r*pe. Sources added how he could possibly face a jail sentence comprising of nearly 12 years for conducting the brutal crime.
Another police report spoke about how the man had tried to offer his assistance via one internet portal.
Other reports showed how there is an immediate aura of worry and concern regarding the security and welfare of these refugees who continue to arrive in huge numbers in such a short span of time.
“There needs to be a plan in place on how to properly protect those refugees who are considered to be the most vulnerable targets. We need to protect them from human trafficking agents that are on the loose”- explained one humanitarian worker.
“We cannot let such young and innocent people become the victims of exploitation during such distressful times of war”- added another.
Sources revealed how this particular suspect was seen on the Polish border, trying to lure in young women and children by promising them assistance but little were they aware of his evil intentions.
