Colorado District Attorney Asks Court To RECONSIDER ‘110-Year Sentence’ For 26-Year-Old Truck Driver Whose Brake Failure Led To Deadly Pile-Up

A district attorney from Colorado has reportedly requested the court to reconsider their decision to grant a 110-year-old long jail sentence to a 26-year-old driver who caused a deadly pileup on the highway.

According to local media outlets, the driver’s brake failure led to the horrifying incident that took away four people’s lives. But now, plenty of people are raising their voice on how the sentence was just too harsh, considering the fact that the driver had no control over his vehicle due to brake failure.

Meanwhile, other reports have gone on to show how the reconsideration was in fact the desire of the living victims and their families, as well as the loved ones of those gone.

26-year-old Rogel Aguilera-Mederos was reportedly behind the wheel when his giant semi-truck slammed into two dozen vehicles on the Interstate 70 in Lakewood, Colorado.

The horrifying impact of the tragedy that took place in April 2019 resulted in a massive fireball explosion that incinerated both trucks and cars, killing four innocent victims.

On the 15th of October, the jury found the accused guilty of 27 criminal charges, and then on the 10th of December, he was sentenced to 110 years in prison which is the minimum duration allowed by sentencing laws in the state of Colorado.

Meanwhile, District Attorney Alexis King has reportedly filed a motion for the court to schedule a hearing so that it can review the truck driver’s sentencing again, just a few days after it was handed down.

“Since Colorado’s laws require the imposition for the sentencing in this particular case, the law also allows the Court to rethink the sentence in an exceptional case that entails both unusual and extenuating circumstances,” as stated in her motion.
