A couple who barely survived Hamas’ massacre in Israel have opened up about their ordeal and recalled the terrifying moment they thought they were going to die.
Nir and Amit Bar are an Israeli couple who were attending the Tribe of Nova festival in Re’im when Palestinian militants known as Hamas stormed Israel in a series of sneak attacks.
In the onslaught, some seven hundred Israelis were brutally killed, around 260 of whom were people attending the peace festival.
In shocking footage and photos from the scene, hordes of people were seen fleeing in all directions as the terrorists paraglided across the border and opened fire on the civilians.
“When the rockets started, Ziv [friend] helped two girls and made sure to calm them down, he told them that everything would calm down soon,” Amit said in an interview with N12.
Shortly after, Ziv called his friends to warn them about the imminent danger.
“We tried to shout at him and call him but he didn’t listen. All this time we saw the terrorists driving in vehicles and shooting in every direction, we thought that we couldn’t move,” Amit added.
Recalling her experience in an Instagram post, Amit also revealed she heard the bullets flying over her head as she and her group were fleeing from the attackers.
“You hear the bullets whistling next to us and people just fall and the f*****g terrorists behind us circling everywhere on motorcycles just trying to kill,” she wrote.
“When I tell you I have no strength, you tell me I have no choice and we must keep running. We didn’t stop running until you and Ziv split up and hid in the bushes.
“The gunshots went over the head, I never knew what a whistle of a gun sounds like, the terrorists pass by and shoot wherever possible and we do everything not move to maintain silence.”
Praying for Ziv, who is still missing, she concluded: “What we experienced is impossible to digest, we just keep praying that Ziv comes home to us.”
The news comes as Israel declared war against the militant group and vowed to take vengeance for the deaths of hundreds of civilians.
Since then, Israel has bombed the Gaza Strip leaving hundreds of people including women and children dead.
In response to the bombings, Hamas threatened to begin executing their captives and post videos of the executions on social media.
