According to the police, the suspect’s emergency call was “a deliberate act to lure law enforcement to the scene.”

They also revealed that Brutcher and his brother, Nathan, both fired on the three officers when they showed up at their home. It is not clear who managed to shoot who and who delivered the fatal bullets.

While Brutcher died on the scene after the exchange of fire, Nathan survived the incident. He was hospitalized, but his current condition remains unknown.

“They answered a call to duty, and they responded without hesitation, and that’s what they did every night before that. And that’s what all our officers do and will continue to do day after day,” Bristol Police Chief Brian Gould expressed.

Paying tribute to the fallen heroes was also Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont who ordered flags be lowered to half-staff out of respect for the deceased officers.
