In what is being described as a shocking turn of events, Minneapolis cop Thomas Lane has been deemed guilty of second-degree charges relating to the manslaughter of George Floyd.
Previously, we saw the plea deal mention Thomas Lane having one count of second-degree manslaughter that was related to helping and abetting in carrying out the brutal murder of George Floyd. Now, the court has pronounced him guilty.
We saw Lane alongside his other colleagues be convicted of federal counts that were related to willfully going against Floyd’s rights that were stated in the 2020 restraint.
Their partner Derek Chauvin had been convicted much earlier for carrying out the murder as well as manslaughter of George Floyd. He had pleaded guilty last year and was even convicted.
Derek Chauvin’s plea argument went about being accepted in the month of May last year and hence will now spend up to 22 years in jail as compared to the regular sentence of life behind bars than any other officer in his position would have gotten.
Shocking and tragic video evidence was also shown in the courtroom that showed the exact moment when all of the officers gang up on George Floyd and violated their training. They even failed to move the victim or provide him with CPR during the horrifying incident that took place on May 20 of 2020.
Lane’s plea was announced during a time when the nation was busy focusing on the deaths relating to 10 other black men who had been killed at the hands of a white teen in Buffalo, New York. The entire incident was said to be live-streamed and was conducted at a supermarket in the most violent style.
While the suspect is now in police custody, investigations into the horrifying matter continue.
