A 7th grader who was framed by her friend for threatening to bomb their school is now filing a lawsuit against the school and Instagram.
13-year-old Nia Whims made headlines as a student from Renaissance Charter School after she was reportedly arrested, handcuffed, and placed in a detention center for two whole weeks in November of 2021.
Shockingly, she never committed the crime in the first place as sources claim that the young girl was framed by her classmate.
Threats had been made against the school’s staff members as well as against some students too.
Nia continued to remain in police custody until a thorough investigation by the cops was conducted.
Later. law enforcement offiers concluded that the threats that were sent out against the school were not in matching with the child’s IP address.
Moreover, they even spoke about how it was in fact a younger classmate who made up a series of false emails as well as social media accounts under the seventh grader’s name.
Last Wednesday, it was revealed how the teenager as well as her mother made announcements regarding a lawsuit that was filed by them agaisnt the school as well as Instagram.
Now, the family is demanding a sum of $30,000 in addition to expenses and fees of the attorney’s involved. In the same way, they also plan to sue the Pembroke Pines Police Department as well.
Both mom and daughter argue that Instagram, which is a giant platform in the world of social media, displayed negligent behavior, given the fact that all the evidence shown was just a press of the button away from their control.
The mother has also shed light on how her daugher Nia had been exposed to some grueling and distressing conditions during her stay at the detention center for juveniles.
