Two young children died and an additional six were left injured after a bus crashed into a daycare center.
The shocking incident took place in Laval north of Montreal, Canada, where 51-year-old driver Pierre Ny St-Amand crashed his bus into a group of people, including children and adults, inside a daycare.
After plowing into the daycare center, the bus driver allegedly exited the vehicle before removing his clothes and screaming.
Meanwhile, parents rushed to help the kids trapped underneath the bus that plowed into the building.
One young child was pronounced dead at the scene while another passed away at the hospital shortly after.
Six children were also reported injured.
“He opened the door. He took off all his clothes. He was totally naked,” one witness, Hamdi Ben Chaabane, said of the bus driver.
Following the deadly crash, the police arrested St-Amand and he was charged with homicide.
“From what I saw, it wasn’t an accident. We don’t know why he did that. We dove on him. We tried to subdue him,” Chaabane added.
Echoing Chaabane was another onlooker, Mario Sirois, who also implied that the crash was no accident.
“There were no signs of skidmarks … He went directly into the daycare,” he said.
As of this writing, the motive for the shocking crime remains unclear, police spokesperson Erika Landry confirmed.
“There is a theory that it was an intentional act, but that remains to be confirmed by the investigation,” Laval mayor Stephane Boyer added.
Government officials also insisted that this wasn’t an act of terrorism and that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
