A 48-year-old man has been shot to his death after receiving bullets to his chest on a Manhattan subway.
According to local media reports, the suspect is still on the run as cops are carrying out an urgent manhunt for his arrest.
The incident took place during the morning hours of Sunday, just short of noon. Moreover, authorities revealed how the exact location was believed to be the lower part of Manhattan.
Cops have recently released a statement to the press that spoke in detail about how the victim was fighting for his life after being shot across the Northbound Q train as it tried to make its way towards Canal Street station.
But the suspect fled as soon as the horrifying incident took place and as of now, police claim they are still searching for his whereabouts as no arrests in relation to the incident were made.
“We just heard loud gunshots and that’s when he saw the suspect firing at the chest of a man”- mentioned one police officer hailing from the New York Police Department.
Despite the victim being rushed to a nearby hospital, he is believed to have passed away at the Bellevue medical center.
Details about the victim are yet to be released while police claim no one else had been wounded in the incident.
The suspect is believed to have made his way out of the crime scene at a fast pace and is yet to be apprehended. This was mentioned by the police about one hour post the incident.
Due to the tragedy, the entire train schedules in New York have been disrupted as sources claim they are running late as investigations into the harrowing case continue.
