Heartbreaking reports have gone on to confirm the tragic death of a 91-year-old man who passed away while trying to escape from his care home in Italy.
The sad accident took place as the man tried to jump outside of the window, using a bedsheet tied around his waist. Moreover, local media outlets revealed how he made attempts to lower himself from the window using those same sheets that were tied to his waist.
The deceased elderly Italian citizen was identified as Mario Finotti who was a resident from Opera Pia Francesco Bottoni’s retirement home that is located in the Italian town of Papozze in Veneto.
The owner of the care home claims he is beyond shocked, horrified, and sad about the incident that took place as this was definitely something never attempted in the past by any other resident in the care home.
While it is still not clear what forced him to carry out the bizarre act, experts believe his loneliness most likely got the best of him and resulted in the accident.
His room was reportedly located on the first floor of the home.
One local media outlet in Italy revealed that his cause of death could have been the slip that resulted in compression of his lungs, killing him as he tried to swing down.
Meanwhile, shift workers present at the home saw his body dangling outside the window at about 6:30 am in morning on Tuesday, resulting in feelings of panic, sorrow, and chaos around the area.
Investigations into the harrowing incident are currently taking place as many mourn the loss of a man who was born and raised in a small town but had the kindest heart and brightest smile.
