Fox News has confirmed the death of leading cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski who was reportedly killed in Kyiv by Russian troops.
According to local media reports, the cameraman died on duty when a major blast struck the Ukrainian capital city of Kyiv.
It is being revealed that it’s the same blast that injured one of the television network’s journalists and correspondents, Benjamin Hall.
The news comes just days after renowned American Filmmaker Brent Renaud died on Sunday after his vehicle came under fire by Russian troops. His colleague managed to make it out alive, despite suffering serious injuries.
Fox News was the first to break the tragic news regarding Hall’s injury while the team was busy during a newsgathering event that occurred in Ukraine.
On Tuesday, the channel revealed a tragic Tweet that stated how horrible it felt to break the news about one of its dear members losing their lives in the line of battle.
Another Tweet came from a news anchor John Roberts who stated that it was beyond devastating to hear such heartbreaking news, adding how it was a delight to work with Pierre on so many occasions around the world.
“I worked with Pierre many times around the world. He was an absolute treasure and we are sending out our heartfelt prayers to his wife and the entire family during this difficult time”- he explained.
The chief executive of the channel said Pierre died in the blast that injured Benjamin Hall in Horenka near Kyiv after the crew’s vehicle was hit with incoming fire.
She also spoke about how he was a war zone photographer that covered every one of the channel’s international stories from Iraq and Syria to Afghanistan throughout his journey with Fox News.
“His passion and talent were unmatched as a journalist”- she concluded.
