Tragic reports are coming in about a horrifying accident involving a bus that skid off the highway and plunged into a ditch in Croatia recently.
Authorities revealed that the Polish bus managed to skid off the highway at about 4:30 am in the morning and suffered a terrifyingly violent crash landing in a ditch, leading to the death of 12 passengers on board.
At the same time, dozens were reported to have been injured in the heartbreaking accident too.
A total of 43 passengers in the form of pilgrims boarded the bus at a renowned pilgrimage spot which was further detailed to be a Shrine located in Bosnia.
The exact location of the bus crash was determined to be just 30 miles north of Zagreb, which is the country’s capital.
Meanwhile, the country’s state television was seen reporting more about the accident and how nearly 30 people were rushed by emergency services to a medical facility for treatment, many of which managed to sustain critical injuries after the vehicle plunged on the A-4 motorway.
Authorities also spoke in detail about how this area is known to be packed and busy during this time of year as it’s peak tourist season. The passengers included three priests and six nuns that belonged to a Catholic shrine in Bosnia.
Croatian police shed light on the heartbreaking incident via their official account on Twitter, adding how the bus involved had a Polish license plate and 11 were confirmed dead while dozens more were injured.
But soon afterward, officials revealed how one more passenger passed away after the official count was unveiled, bringing the death toll up to 12 people.
While investigations into the incident are still taking place, authorities claim the most likely cause of the bus crash was the driver falling asleep but nothing can be confirmed as details are still being collected related to what really went on.
