The victim of the deadly bus shooting that recently rocked North California has been identified as a single mother.
According to local media outlets, the mother was trying to move across the country with her family so she could start a new life. But little did she know about the horror that lay ahead of her.
The victim was identified by authorities on Friday as 43-year-old Karin Dalton who was a passenger on the bus that was targeted in the northern part of California.
This horrifying incident unfolded when one of the passengers located on the bus began to behave in a very irresponsible and erratic manner. Moreover, he started to open fire with his weapon at a nearby rest stop that was located in Oroville. This is just about an hour’s drive away from the north of Sacramento.
The alleged gunman has been identified by the Sheriff’s department as 21-year-old Asaahdi Elijah Coleman who was immediately arrested by police officers while trying to flee from the crime scene near a Walmart.
And that’s when cops reportedly found him naked.
The single mother was accompanied by her 14-year-old son and her 11-year-old daughter during the bus ride. Unfortunately, her daughter was shot twice in the face and immediately being treated by paramedics who rushed to the scene of the crime.
Authorities claim that she is doing alright and is expected to recover with time. However, her brother managed to escape the incident unharmed.
The family was leaving their residence in Seattle so they could move on over to another residence that’s located in New Mexico, as reported by the Los Angeles Times recently as the mother wished to start a new life.
Police have also revealed how the gunman is expected to serve a jail sentence of 148 years in relating to one count of murder as well as four counts relating to attempted murder.
