Terrifying reports coming in from Egypt have confirmed the death of 21 people while at least six were left critically injured after a minibus overturned and plunged into a ditch.
The horrifying incident took place today during the early hours of the morning when the driver of the vehicle suddenly lost complete control, causing the bus to overturn and fall directly into a deep ditch.
The ditch was located in the Nile Delta, as confirmed by the country’s Health Ministry recently. It was also revealed how the bus had been driving in the northern Dakahlia province, as stated by the ministry.
Among the victims include three young kids, the officials stated.
Many local media outlets in Egypt revealed how the accident was reportedly caused by a malfunctioning steering wheel and that is what caused the driver to lose complete control of the vehicle.
But so far, no more details on the matter have been revealed. Currently, the authorities are trying to gather more clues through an investigation that had recently begun.
The bus was carrying around 27 people at the time of the crash. Moreover, rescue efforts are currently taking place to help search for more survivors.
Many described the scenes of the incident to be heartbreaking. Recent images showed how the bus’ wreckage was pulled out from the water. And that showed the degree of damage that had been done.
All the windows of the bus were so badly damaged. The police cordoned off the site of the tragedy as a massive crowd gathered to witness the rescue efforts taking place. And when the bus was pulling out, it was filled with water, making the whole rescue operation a little difficult.
