As we inch closer to the Queen’s death, more and more details are being revealed about her funeral including which pieces of jewelry Her Majesty will be buried with.
According to local media outlets, the Queen will reportedly be buried with just two pieces of sentimental jewelry as she’s laid to rest at her final spot. Meanwhile, a Royal insider explained how Her Majesty will not be buried in her large array of priceless and precious jewels as many had anticipated.
Instead, she would be buried in just her gold wedding band and also her pair of pearl earrings.
The Queen’s wedding ring is made from Welsh gold, and it continues to be a royal tradition that goes back to the early 1920s, sources have confirmed.
It is also very unlikely that we witness the Queen getting buried with anything other than that. There are also reports from Royal insiders about how the engagement ring would be handed over to her daughter Princess Anne.
Queen Elizabeth was known for loving her jewels and during her coronation, the Queen had worn a crown that glittered with shiny jewels all around. That was a statement piece and it boasted the world’s largest diamond.
The Queen’s own wedding ring had been passed on to her by her parents for their own wedding in 1923. And as you can see, it started off as a royal tradition that will continue to evolve with time.
Her Majesty’s royal collection of jewels was stated to encase about 300 different pieces. This entails 98 different brooches, 34 sets of earrings, and around 15 different rings.
Meanwhile, the official collection of Crown Jewels is currently being held at the Tower of London. These date as far back as the 17th century and there are more than 23,000 diamonds, rubles, and sapphires included.
