One of the survivors of the tragedy is now speaking out, confirming how he was sitting right next to the shooter on the subway.
Hourari Benkada says he hopped on the final N train car during the early hours of Tuesday morning but little did he know about the horror that lay ahead of him.
“He was covered in a gas mask and had an MTA orange and white-colored vest on and a duffle bag by his side. But before we knew it, he began to shoot wildly in all directions without giving it a second thought”- the survivor recalls.
The gunman unleashed scenes of bloodshed as well as terror in just a few minutes as the NYPD claimed he shot his gun at least 33 times that hit at least 10 people.
Sounds of screams and panic filled the air as the 27 gave out more chilling details of the aftermath that ensued while speaking for an exclusive interview with CNN.
Th survivor says he is more than lucky and grateful to be alive today because the terrifying commute was the scariest thing he’s ever experienced in his life.
Hourari is currently admitted to the hospital where he is undergoing treatment for a gunshot injury in his knee while trying to flee from the shooter’s rain of bullets.
“This makes me never want to ride a train in my life again”- the survivor added in an emotional tone.
As investigations into the harrowing incident continue, the New York Police Department is still searching for the suspect that caused the chaotic mass shooting. The cops revealed details of the suspect but are yet to arrest him.
