Huge celebrations were seen taking center stage in Ukraine yesterday after the ‘miracle’ bridge linking Russia with Crimea blew up in flames.
The bridge was considered to be a strategic link of road and rail for Russia and Crimea but the attack took the countries by surprise as a portion of the bridge even collapsed after being struck with explosives.
The Russians are looking at the incident as an attack linked to sabotage. But in Ukraine, the picture is the opposite. Despite being accused by Russia of using a truck full of explosives to blow up the bridge, the country started to rejoice over the news.
Many called the attack as the perfect medicine for Putin who decided to recently launch a major rocket attack on a residential apartment building in the country that housed many women and children.
The explosion on the bridge comprised a huge fireball that extended for a good 12 miles and occurred during the early hours of the morning.
It’s even more humiliating for Russia because they claim the bridge is heavily protected and guarded using state-of-the-art technology. Moreover, shocking footage showed a boat or drone full of explosives making its way to the bridge and slamming right into it.
At least three people were killed in the attack and a lot of damage was done to the route through which key supplies were transferred between Russia and Crimea.
The bridge’s construction first began in 2014 when the Russian head of state ordered for its swift completion, calling it a massive breakthrough for trade and supply between both neighboring countries.
Firefighters and other rescue services were seen rushing to the scene of the blaze as Russia thinks of ways to restore the massive destruction that has taken place. But for Ukraine, the incident is monumental and one that must be celebrated after the forced invasion in their country by the Russians.
