A teenage girl from South Yorkshire is now going public with her pleas to receive brain surgery after claiming her rare medical condition is nothing less than a walking death sentence.
Allesha Barnfield suffers from a very rare health condition that is literally pulling her brain towards her spinal canal. And for that reason, the pain and suffering are just too much for her to bear.
“Every day I feel like I am being punished for no reason. It’s like a walking death sentence because I could become internally decapitated at any moment in time,” the devastated teenage girl mentioned in a heartbreaking interview.
At just 17, the young girl began to search for answers as to why she suffered from all sorts of signs and symptoms that ranged from severe headaches that were so crippling to not being able to bear loud noise or even bright light.
The end result has left her bed-bound and it’s so hard for her loved ones to see her go through so much agonizing pain, they mentioned.
The ex-college student says that it was her absolute dream to study law and go to university so she could be a lawyer. But all of that was crushed in one instant when she was diagnosed with a condition referred to as Chiari Malformation.
In this condition, the body’s ligaments that are present inside the spine become so tense and tight than normal cases. Therefore, the brain tissues also get involved and hence pulled into the spinal cord too, which can ultimately lead to paralysis.
In the same way, the family shed light on how the ligaments can also undergo internal decapitation which is when the ligaments connecting the skull to the spine become damaged or severed.
The young woman is petrified of her own condition and is hoping for a miracle in the form of urgent brain surgery so she could be treated.
