Two young boys were found dead alongside their father in their Illinois home.
The police have launched an investigation after 5-year-old Sebastian and 7-year-old Benjamin were found dead next to their 31-year-old father, Andrew Hintt.
The three bodies were discovered on Sunday at around 9.30 pm after police were called to the family’s home in Belvidere, northern Illinois, by the boys’ mother and Andrew’s fiancée who grew concerned after receiving no response from her family.
After arriving at the terrifying scene, the investigators discovered four shell casings. While the murder weapon could not be found anywhere at the home, the police discovered that Hintt’s car had been stolen, presumably by the suspect who shot and killed the entire family.
“Whoever did this horrific act is truly evil,” Belvidere Police Chief Shane Woody expressed during a press conference as he called the triple homicide senseless.
Since the horrific shooting, the police have launched a search for the stolen 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk with the license plate CT92923.
As WIFR revealed, the police are currently questioning 24-year-old Alize Smith in connection to the triple homicide. Smith was released from prison in July 2021 after serving four years for aggravated robbery. He was arrested at the 11000 block of Timer Dr. in Huntley over parole violations.
Following the passing of the young boys and their father, neighbor Lacey Allison dubbed Andrew a good father as she recalled his kids playing outside their home.
“Drew was such a good father, they would play constantly outside. They were a little bit younger than my children so they didn’t play much together, but always riding their bikes, and Drew had a little dirt bike, he took them on rides up and down the sidewalk,” Allison said.
“Just to hear them laughing and giggle, and it was like a little daycare out here with all the laughter, it was, I mean, they were sweet boys, very sweet boys.”
Meanwhile, the boys’ surviving family insisted that Andrew was a great father who loved his children dearly.
“He was a 31-year-old, you know, full of life, a really great dad. He had issues in his past, but he would give everything for all of his children,” Hintt’s aunt, Theresa Thompson, said.
“Benjamin, Sebastian and Andrew, I love you boys. We will never be the same again,” the boys’ mother added.
Our thoughts are with the entire family during these challenging times.
