Two young boys who were found dead at their home in Belvedere, London, were killed by their mother before the woman took her own life.
47-year-old Nadja de Jager was found dead at her home alongside her sons Maximus, 7, and Alexander, 9, after the police broke into the house following welfare concerns.
Initial investigation into the shocking discovery suggested that no one else was wanted in the connection with the three deaths.
Now, The Sun confirmed that the boys were killed by their mother either by suffocation or strangulation moments before the businesswoman took her own life.
It was also revealed that Nadja and the boys’ father, Herman De Jager, had split some time ago.
“This is a deeply sad case and we are continuing to establish the circumstances that led to this tragic incident,” Detective Inspector Ollie Stride expressed.
“I would like to thank the local community for their cooperation while our officers go about their enquiries,” Stride said.
“Our thoughts today are very much with the family as they struggle to come to terms with their loss and we ask that their privacy be respected at this extremely difficult time.”
Meanwhile, shocked residents of the otherwise peaceful community began paying their tributes to the two boys and their family.
“As far as I’m aware they were just a normal family. Seeing the kids toys out the front tugs on the heart strings. It’s just dreadful,” one neighbor, Marion Beazer, said.
“To Alex and Maxy’s family. Our deepest sympathies for the loss of your beautiful boys and their mum. We are thinking of you,” another wrote in a letter.
A third told MailOnline: “I’m absolutely shocked. The first thing I knew something bad had happened was when the police turned up at lunchtime yesterday. I’ve since found out that Nadia and her two boys are dead.”
