The five-year-old boy who was stabbed to death while his mom screamed for help has been named and pictured.
Little Mario Lazarica, 5, was pronounced dead after an unnamed 49-year-old woman who is known to his family allegedly “snatched and stabbed” him at a residence in Coventry, England.
After the attack, the boy’s frantic mom began calling for help and asking her neighbors to call the police.
“My child, my child … Call the police!” the distressed mom repeatedly shouted.
Following the tragic incident, first responders rushed to the scene in an attempt to save the boy’s life. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the property.
“I am here today to tell you about an ongoing investigation into the tragic death of a five-year-old child, which understandably has shocked the community,” Superintendent Ronan Tyrer confirmed in a statement.
“Just after 5pm yesterday we were called to the Earlsdon area of Coventry and when we arrived found a young boy just short of his sixth birthday with multiple injuries.
“Despite the extensive efforts of police officers and paramedics unfortunately there was nothing we could do to save him.”
The authorities have since also stressed out that the woman who stabbed the young boy was not his mother.
It has now been revealed that the young boy’s name was Mario Lazarica and that he was a student at Hearsall Community Primary School.
“We heard lots of screaming and shouting and the mother had run into the Co-Op saying her child had been taken,” one neighbor yelled as they recalled the horrific knife attack.
“She was saying ‘my child, my child’ and repeatedly saying ‘call the police.’ She was in a lot of distress as you can imagine. It was nightmarish.
“We don’t know if the boy was snatched from the home or found at the home, it is still quite confusing but a lot of people are saying he was stabbed, which would just be horrific.”
