A 13-year-old boy who was bullied to death by his own classmates has been pictured for the first time.
According to local media outlets, Austin Pendergrass reportedly took his own life while inside a bathroom at the Wendell Middle School on Tuesday. This was his first day back from school and instead of being excited to return to grade eight, it was the most daunting thing for him.
The bullying just got the best of him. His family says he passed away from the mental torture they inflicted on him, bullying and hunting him. He never understood why he was treated this way and questioned his own actions, instead of the awful behavior of others toward him.
“My child died from taking his own life because it got to him. People’s horrifying attitude was just too much for him to bear. He’s gone now, I hope they can live with that guilt”- his heartbroken mother went on to add.
The victim’s mother revealed how the bullying started when the child was in grade six and it continued for two years.
And instead of dying down as the kids got older, it simply got worse.
Austin was seen enjoying the summertime but when he got back to school, he became a different person. He didn’t like to return and the parents now wish they had changed his school to prevent losing their son forever. The young child was reportedly found dead by two students and prompted school officials to immediately send everyone home, as they called the terrifying and tragic situation an absolute medical crisis.
His grieving mom says that the signs were definitely there but the bullying really became bad. And the bullying continued for two whole years.
While their loving son can never come back, the parents are urging other parents to explain to their kids how important it is to be kind to others. Because you never know how one person’s words or actions can affect another and lead them to take drastic measures, similar to what their son ended up doing.
