A family was left heartbroken after a 6-year-old boy died from injuries caused by a lightning bolt.
Grayson Boggs was a bubbly young boy from Texas who tragically died one month after being struck by a bolt of lightning while walking outside with his dad.
According to the reports, the six-year-old was holding hands with his dad, 34-year-old Matthew, after the doting father picked up his son from his school bus station on May 15.
That’s when lightning suddenly struck and killed the father in an instant. While Grayson survived the ordeal, he has now, one month after the incident, succumbed to his injuries.
“Words can’t describe this. You fought so hard through it all, now you’ll be able to rest my handsome funny little baby nephew,” the child’s grieving aunt said after his fight came to an end.
Meanwhile, Matthew’s mother revealed that her son and her grandson were voicing their love for each other when the lightning struck.
“Matthew had just got done telling Grayson that he loved him, he said ‘I love you buddy,’ that’s when the lightning came down,” Angela Boggs recalled in a tear-jerking interview with KWTX.
“I always took care of him, because he is the one god gave to me. Now my responsibility is to take care of my grandbabies.”
After the lightning strike, Grayson was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. He was placed on life support and diagnosed with brain injury as a result of oxygen deprivation.
While his condition showed signs of improvement in recent weeks, the doctors informed the family that the boy was beyond saving last Tuesday.
The day before his ventilator was turned off, the family issued a heartbreaking statement on GoFundMe saying: “It’s been 1 month since tragedy struck this family. The strength that this family has shown is inspiring. Grayson is still hanging on, but is on comfort care.
“Please just pray that we keep him comfortable at this time and pray for healing for the family. We may not know what God’s plan is, but we know he has his arms wrapped around Grayson at this time.”
Our thoughts are with Grayson and Matthew’s loved ones during this challenging time.
