3-Year-Old Boy FALLS To His Death From 29th Floor Balcony, Neighbors Said They Heard Adults Fighting Before Hearing A Loud Thump


A 3-year-old boy tragically died after falling from a 29th-floor balcony in New York City around 11 am on Saturday.

Police rushed to the Taino Towers residential complex where they found the boy on a 3rd-floor scaffolding wearing a yellow t-shirt and a diaper.

From the street below, the toddler’s distraught mother screamed ‘My baby, my baby is up there.’

A video from a passerby shows the horrific scene in front of the building. The mother of the 3-year-old can also be seen dropping to her knees as first responders tried to console her.

Speaking to the New York Post, neighbors said that they heard a loud ‘thump’ when the toddler fell.

Witnesses also said that the father attempted to climb onto the scaffolding but failed to do so.

A neighbor told The Post that her children heard a “big fight” between adults about 10 minutes before they heard the loud ‘thump.’

Nidia Cordero, a foster mom from the 34th floor, said her children heard a fight between adults on the 29th floor only minutes before the 3-year-old boy fell.

“When you look out the terrace you see the baby’s body. He was in his diapers and T-shirt,” she said.

“Then you hear screams. I think the mom was screaming and I looked and the baby was in the scaffolding.”

The youngster was rushed to Harlem Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Neighbor Alexander Townsend said to the child’s mother: “She was sitting on the ground in her socks. She was screaming, ‘My baby, my baby, he is up there.’”

Tanjelyn Castro from the 23rd floor also told The Post that she heard a ‘boom.’ “It sounded like something really heavy. It sounded like construction. We just started looking and everybody started coming out of their building.

“Everybody that were upstairs that could see down, saw the little boy with the yellow shirt. He was flat in the scaffolding.”

Police said that his death is ‘under investigation.’

Speaking to The Associated Press, a police spokesperson said: “We believe the child exited through a window, but exactly how that occurred is under investigation at the time.”
