A young boy was left fighting for his life after suffering serious injuries during a fall from a cliff.
The 10-year-old unnamed child was reportedly enjoying the holiday with his family in Brighton, UK, when he fell one hundred feet from the Ovingdean cliffs.
The tragic incident reportedly took place at around 5 pm on Saturday, whereas an investigation into the circumstances of the boy’s fall continues.
As of this writing, no foul play is suspected.
“Police responded to a report of a boy falling from height in Ovingdean, at about 5 pm on Saturday, September 24,” Sussex Police confirmed via a spokesperson.
“The 10-year-old was found to have suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to St George’s hospital in London, where he remains in critical condition.
“He is not local to the area and was visiting Brighton and Hove. Ovingdean roundabout was closed whilst the boy was brought to safety. The roundabout reopened just before 10 pm. We thank the public for their patience during the closure.”
The police went on to reveal that the boy and his family are receiving support as inquiries into the fall continue.
Meanwhile, one witness told The Argus that the scene at the cliffs looked “really worrying” after the boy plunged one hundred feet from the top.
“I saw all the emergency services at the cliff and it looked really worrying,” the passer-by said.
“I had heard it was a child so I really hope they are ok. It’s absolutely awful.”
Our thoughts remain with the 10-year-old and his family as his recovery continues.
