A young boy tragically died days after falling from a swing while playing with his friends.
10-year-old Lewi Sullivan from Ebbw Vale, Wales, was a much-loved schoolboy who suffered serious injuries when he fell from a rope swing while enjoying playtime on one of the last days of summer break.
After the “fun, caring, and loving” child plummeted to the ground from the swing, his stunned friends and passersby called for help and Lewi was airlifted to hospital.
Unfortunately, the boy suffered severe head trauma and passed away three days later.
“Lewi was a fantastic, caring and loving son. He really was every father’s dream, and we had this brilliant father and son bond,” the boy’s father, Nigel, said in a tribute to his son.
“I was proud to bits of him, and I know he was really proud of me, not only as a father, but also as a friend. We had a very strong friendship bond as well as being father and son and that was really special to me.”
Nigel went on to brand his son as “the best child a dad could ask for” while thanking everyone who tried to help his son.
“I just want to thank everyone who tried to help Lewi – the kids who were with him when it happened, and even some passers-by. I know one guy tried to help him for almost 20 minutes before the ambulance arrived,” the grieving dad added.
“The air ambulance was out of this world, the paramedics were fantastic, the police incredible. All of the professionals who helped him were incredible. The staff at Noah’s Ark went above and beyond for him, and I know they did everything they could. I know he had the best care possible and that they gave him the best chance.”
Concluding his tribute, Nigel said his son was “an absolute gem” who adored trucks and machines and was “loved by all around” for his “lovable” nature and his “wicked sense of humor.”
Our thoughts remain with Lewi’s loved ones during this challenging time.
