A young boy tragically lost his life after getting struck by a vehicle outside his church in Australia.
Thang Khat Sun, 3, suffered critical injuries outside a Melbourne church on Saturday night at around 7 p.m. after getting hit by a vehicle while walking across the parking lot.
According to the reports, the incident took place at the New Hope Baptist Church in Blackburn North where Thang and his family gathered to celebrate the Khuado Pawi cultural festival.
While the details of the accident remain unclear, it was revealed that the child got struck by a car and that the paramedics were unable to save his life after arriving at the scene.
“Nobody really knows what happened, it was really sudden, everyone is in shock, it’s really sad. The worst tragedy we have in the community here,” Zomi Community Secretary Thang Zuisang said.
“To be honest, even though we kept (the festival going), nobody was in a good mood to celebrate that festival that day.”
It was also revealed that Sun’s family traveled from their native Myanmar to Australia after getting humanitarian visas to escape the nation in crisis.
They have since thanked the local community in Melbourne and the paramedics for their support and efforts to save their son.
Meanwhile, the police confirmed that an investigation into the shocking death remains ongoing.
“The circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be established and the investigation remains ongoing,” their statement read.
As of this writing, it remains unclear if the driver of the vehicle that struck Thang was at fault and whether they will face any charges or not.
