A young boy was found dead inside a washing machine while his parents were filling out a missing persons report with the police.
7-year-old Troy Khoeler was discovered lifeless inside a top-loading washing machine some two hours after his adoptive parents allegedly noticed that he was missing.
According to the reports, the boy’s parents called the police to their Spring, Texas, home at around 5:20 am on Thursday after realizing that Troy was nowhere to be found.
When the police arrived at the house, the parents were interviewed for a missing persons report. The police also searched their home after realizing there were no signs of the child ever leaving the house.
While going through the garage, the officers came across a washing machine with Troy’s body inside.
This early into the investigation, it remains unclear whether foul play is suspected or not.
The police also have yet to confirm whether there was water in the machine at the time of the discovery and whether the boy died before or after he went into or was moved into the washing machine.
Following the discovery, Troy’s parents were taken to the station for questioning. The police confirmed they will be interviewed separately as per the protocol.
“We don’t know what happened, but we intend to find out,” Harris County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Robert Minchew said.
“Whether he was killed by the washing machine or killed and placed in it, we’re just so far from that, I can’t comment.”
While much remains unknown about the horrific case, the police said it is believed Troy was alone at home with his adoptive father in the hours he was missing.
