The picture of a 13-year-old boy who was driving his father’s truck that slammed into a bus and took the lives of nine people, including himself, has been revealed.
Ricky Siemens and his father Heinrich Siemens, 38, died in the crash that also killed six students and their coach.
Their heartbroken relatives took to Facebook and shared photos of them on Thursday night. A friend of the family revealed that the teen had accidentally burned down his home last year, destroying their property completely.
Aganetha Siemsens, a family friend, told Daily Mail: “Just before Christmas, their house burned down. The 13-year-old made some eggs and forgot about it.”
Heinrich was a father of five kids and his family were members of the Mennonite church.
According to reports, Ricky was driving his father’s Dodge truck when the front spare tire suddenly burst, causing the vehicle to cross center line and crash into a bus carrying University of the Southwest golf students.
“I couldn’t imagine going through all that and then to have this happen,” she said. “It’s just so sad.”
The teen’s mother, Aggie Siemens, paid a tribute to her son and shared a photo of him, writing: “I miss you so much.”
She also shared photos of her husband, who is photographed hugging her from behind. “My Best Friend,” I love you so much,” and “Love of my life,” are on the photo.
Family members and friends of the six athletes who tragically died remembered them as “great kids and community members.”
Gary Raines, whose daughter Karisa died in the incident, said: “We are praying so much for the families of all those other kids. Right now we just keep thinking we’re gonna wake up from this terrible nightmare. But it’s not happening.”
Karisa’s mother told Today: “Karisa was my baby. I don’t know what I’m going to do without her.”
