A young boy has passed away after suffering “unsurvivable” head injuries during an accident involving his new mini-motorbike.
4-year-old Jacob Gamlin-Turner was a riding and motorbike enthusiast who was testing out his new mini-motorbike designed for children when he hit a bump causing him to crash into the post of a metal fence in south Wales, UK.
As the inquest heard, the young boy “applied throttle in an uncontrolled manner” before losing control of the small motorbike and crashing into the metal obstacle.
He was wearing an appropriate suit, gloves, and a helmet at the time of the accident.
After slamming into the fence, the boy was rushed to hospital where doctors informed his family that he had suffered a dislocated spine and “unsurvivable” head trauma.
A day after the unfortunate accident, the boy’s life support was turned off.
The inquest also heard that the boy’s father, Ross Turner, took Jacob to Blackwood’s Britannia Sports Field to practice riding his new mini-motorbike.
Once there, Ross and two other adults, including the boy’s grandfather, supervised the 4-year-old while he was riding around.
All of a sudden, the child ran over a bump and lost control of the motor, causing him to charge in the direction of the nearby metal fence.
According to the investigators, the motorbike used by Jacob was in “good working order and was appropriate for his age.” “
Jacob was a four-year-old little boy who from the day he was born had a love of sports and the outdoors. His passion was his motorbike and he had a flare for riding,” Coroner Ms Saunders explained.
