8-Year-Old Boy Left In A Coma After Being Hit By A Car Moments After Exiting School Bus


A young boy was left fighting for his life after being struck by a car just moments after exiting his school bus.

8-year-old Harrison Grey from Darwin, Australia, was on his way home from Bees Creek Primary School when he got hit by a car shortly after getting off a school bus on Bees Creek Road.

According to the local reports, the boy ran out of the bus and behind the vehicle when an oncoming Ford sedan plowed into him and fled the scene.

Following the incident, Harrison was rushed to the hospital where doctors placed him in an induced coma in a bid to save his life.

As of this writing, the 8-year-old remains hospitalized with severe head injuries.

“Due to his injuries we don’t yet know what his prognosis is going to be,” Harrison’s mother, Paula Apostoles, told NT News as she and the boy’s father, Dean Grey, remain by his bedside.

Urging other parents to teach their kids to be vigilant on and around roadways to prevent similar incidents, Apostoles added: “School holidays are starting and everyone needs to be aware of kids being out and about on or near roads and car parks more at this time.”

Speaking out was also Casey Speirs, a family friend, who launched a GoFundMe page and raised more than $10,000 for the family.

“He is still in a critical condition and has a long road ahead for recovery,” she explained.

“I would like to take some financial stress away from this family so they can focus all their attention on their child’s well being and recovery.”

As of this writing, the Northern Territory Police continue investigating the incident and searching for the driver that fled the scene.
