This is a heartbreaking moment an 11-year-old boy was accidentally shot and killed by his older brother, 13, in their Miami home after they found the gun of their corrections officer mother.
The tragic incident saw the younger sibling, She’Marion Burse, shot in the chest after they found the gun inside their parents’ bedroom in the Kendale Lakes section of the city, according to police.
Three of the children’s other siblings were also at home when the tragic incident happened but no adults were present.
The young boy’s death left the children and other residents devastated.
Officers are investigating the incident but have said they don’t expect any charges to be filed.
A neighbor who witnessed the aftermath of the shooting recalled: “Blood on the wall, him just laying there, taking his last breath, and it was just traumatic.”
The neighbor, who asked to be unnamed, told 7News that she was the one to contacted 911 after hearing the shot that reverberated through the apartment complex.
“I called 911. I went inside the house. The baby was there, blood everywhere,” she told the news outlet.
She also said that She’Marion’s brother asked her to perform CPR until he stopped breathing.
“I proceeded to do CPR, mouth-to-mouth until he stopped breathing. And then I just stopped,” she expressed. “I just apologized to the person that was over him. I knew he was a sibling also. I just walked out of the house and started to break down myself.”
Emergency services rushed to the apartment where they found the young boy’s traumatized siblings.
The child was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center where he was declared dead.
