A 10-year-old boy has tragically died while playing with another child at a California trampoline park.
Anthony Duran had been playing basketball at the Rockin’ Jump Trampoline Park on April 13 when he got into a fight with another child.
According to KFSN, a physical fight broke out between them and Duran collapsed to the ground.
Witnesses reportedly rushed to the boy and performed CPR until paramedics arrived.
But only four days later, the 10-year-old boy sadly passed away, said Merced Police Department, adding that the Merced County Coroner’s Office is conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Police also confirmed that the incident was caught on surveillance camera and more than 30 witnesses have been questioned as part of the investigation.
They have been in contact with the parents of the other child but no further details about the youngster have been revealed.
Duran’s mother, who is working as a nurse, is planning to donate his organs.
His aunt also setup a GoFundMe page to give Duran a proper burial and it has raised over $28,000.
A vigil was held at Golden Valley High School and another one will be held next week following Duran’s death.
Speaking to News 11, his Junior Varsity Coach Jack Booker said: “At first, I didn’t believe it. I was in denial. Who would expect anything like that to happen,” adding that the news left him ‘devastated.’
A family friend, Nellie Barragan, also told KFSN that she does not think a medical condition contributed to Duran’s death.
“He played football, was in boxing. He just finished basketball. He had no health problems. That’s what they’re saying is that maybe it was a medical condition. It was not.”
