In a desperate attempt to save her son from getting killed, the boy’s mother, Suzie, charged the animal and wrestled it until it released her child.

“It’s obviously been traumatic, but I think she’s ready to focus on the positive, knowing how much worse it could have been,” she said.

While Jack will recover from bruises and cuts inflicted by the mountain lion, the family was told things could end up much worse, whereas the animal only missed a nerve near the boy’s eye by less than half an inch.

“The attack was very, very vicious in nature. Every indication is that (the mother) saved her son’s life,” Captain Patrick Foy of the Department of Fish and Wildlife confirmed.
