The police searching for the billionaire heiress who was kidnapped while jogging have discovered a body while swooping a wooded area.
34-year-old Eliza Fletcher is a mother-of-two and a kindergarten teacher who was kidnapped on Friday morning while jogging in Memphis, Tennessee.
After the young woman was abducted and forced into an SUV, the authorities launched a manhunt for the suspect which led to the arrest of 38-year-old Cleotha Abston who previously served time for kidnapping a lawyer back in 2000.
Now, the police discovered a body while searching for Fletcher in a wooded area in Memphis near the home of Mario Abston, the suspect’s brother.
As of this writing, it remains unclear if the body belongs to the kidnapped teacher. The police have yet to officially identify the body and determine the cause of death.
“It’s emotional, it really hurts,” April Jackson, Mario’s neighbor, told the reporters as people gathered at the presumed crime scene where the body was discovered.
“That could have been anybody out jogging that morning, a student, anyone. And he was just released two years ago for another abduction and he gets out and does it again.”
Jackson added: “It makes me sick.”
The disturbing find comes after another neighbor of Mario claimed they had seen Abston at his brother’s home daily in the weeks leading to the kidnapping.
It has also been revealed that Abston was stalking Fletcher for nearly half an hour before forcing her into an SUV at 4.30 am on Friday.
Abston, who has a long rap sheet involving aggravated assault, kidnapping, and rape, has since been charged with especially aggravated kidnapping and tampering with evidence.point 410 |
Additional charges, including first-degree murder, are not out of the picture pending investigation and the identification of the body.point 117 | 1
