Bodies of two newborn babies were found in trash bags at a popular daycare center.
The shocking discovery was made by the cleaning crew at a childcare institution at Northwestern Memorial Hospital medical center in Chicago’s Streeterville.
According to the reports, two newborn girls were found dead in the trash at around 7 pm on Thursday. Inside the center, the staff also came across a woman – possibly the children’s mother – who was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
“Chicago police are conducting death investigations after two newborn girls were found dead inside a childcare center bathroom in Streeterville,” the police revealed in a statement after an investigation into the shocking find was launched.
“Dispatchers told responding officers that the babies were in a trash bag. The children were not breathing when first responders arrived.”
Sources from law enforcement confirmed that the two girls were officially pronounced dead at Lurie Children’s Hospital even though they were no longer breathing by the time the paramedics arrived at the scene.
“Area Three detectives are handling the investigation, which was initially classified as endangering the life or health of children,” the police added.
Confirming the disturbing incident was also the daycare in question which branded the events as an “emergency medical situation.”
“An emergency medical situation involving a daycare employee occurred this evening at the daycare facility on the Northwestern Memorial Hospital campus,” a Northwestern Medicine spokesperson said.
“No daycare children were involved or impacted by the situation. The Chicago Fire and Police Departments were called. We are working with CPD regarding this incident and unable to comment further at this time.”
