The Price Is Right’s iconic host, Bob Barker, has passed away at the age of 99, leaving fans devastated.
In a heartbreaking statement, his publicist Roger Neal confirmed the news of his death, saying: “It is with profound sadness that we announce that the World’s Greatest MC who ever lived, Bob Barker, has left us.”
Barker was the long-serving host of the popular game show, starting his run in 1972 until 2007.
His cause of death has been revealed to be natural causes, with the 99-year-old dying at his Hollywood Hills home.
Neal told Entertainment Tonight that Barker will not have a public memorial service or funeral at his own request.
It has also been revealed that the former host will be laid to rest beside his late wife, Dorothy Jo Gideon, at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in the Hollywood Hills.
Bob and Dorothy had been high school sweethearts. They were married from 1945 until 1981 when she passed away from lung cancer at the age of 57.
Born in Washington on December 12, 1923, Barker moved to South Dakota at the age of 6 and lived on a Sioux Indian reservation with his mother after his father died in his workplace.
Barker also served in the Navy for two years before going back to Missouri, where he finished a degree in economics and landed a job at a Florida radio station.
Barker’s grieving girlfriend, Nancy Burnet, also expressed her heartbreak and said that she was proud of the ‘trailblazing work’ they accomplished together to ‘expose the cruelty to animals in the entertainment industry and including working to improve the plight of abused and exploited animals in the United States and internationally.point 407 | 1
