The Bloomsbury USA president died in a grisly accident on the sea after their speedboat plowed into a large sailing ship.
45-year-old Adrienne Vaughan was with her husband and their children as the family was cruising off the coast of Amalfi, Italy, in a speedboat operated by a 30-year-old driver.
According to the reports, the driver of the speedboat suddenly appeared to lose control of the vessel and crashed straight into a 130-foot yacht carrying a bride and groom and their wedding guests.
It was also revealed that Vaughan died in the collision, whereas her husband suffered serious injuries. The couple’s children were taken to the hospital for treatment of shock.
Pietro luzzolino, one of the wedding guests from the yacht, has since spoken to the local media and told Corriere del Mezzogiorno that the driver of the speedboat the family was on appeared to be drunk. The witness also suggested that the 30-year-old was vomiting.
The driver of the speedboat was after the fatal collision arrested as he failed to pass the toxicology test.
Meanwhile, it was revealed that Adrienne and her family chartered the speedboat in question while on a retreat to Italy to unwind.
At the time of the incident, the family was reportedly on their way to Positano. They crashed into the yacht carrying some 85 passengers in Fiordo di Furore in the evening at around 6.30 pm.
The circumstances of the accident, including the cause, are currently unclear as the investigation remains ongoing.
Vaughan worked for Disney publishing group from 2015 to 2018 before becoming the COO and executive director of Bloomsbury in 2020. A year later, the hardworking mother-of-two was named the president of the US Bloomsbury chapter.
Adrienne is survived by her loving husband and their two children. Our thoughts remain with her loved ones during this challenging time.
